Getting eggs exactly right every time

I used AI to help me from ever overcooking an egg or making rubbery scrambled eggs again by making an AI Powered Timer that reduces decision fatigue and repetitive time checking.

Where the idea stemmed from..

I have constantly found myself searching online for egg cooking times whenever I need to quickly get some breakfast in, only to find conflicting information that didn't account for different egg sizes, starting temperatures, or cooking methods.

So I thought..

With the AI resources in hand, why not create a single tool that addresses precision egg cooking comprehensively without having to waste any time, especially during busy mornings when I’d like to have my eggs for breakfast and get on with the day.

Brainstorming & Design Consultation

  • Generated information on various parameters like egg types, cooking preferences, temperature etc.

  • Brainstormed description of textures of the different egg types, to help users decide better

  • Devised ideas for App name & headline

  • Helped with generation of progress stage indicators for egg cooking

Prompting with Claude

AI - Powered Development

  • Fed initial idea and data from Claude which generated a base prototype.

  • Generated visual images of results

  • Created styling & branding components of fonts, colour and buttons to display in the app

  • Generated an App logo depicting an egg with a timer

  • Created Layout options and Scroll Interactions for the Screen.

Banner Image Creation

  • Gave context to create a banner size image with a flat lay of boiled eggs on a plate.

  • Provided hex code for the image background to match the App style

  • Instructed on positioning the objects and adding extra effects.

What I Learned

  • Providing as much context as you can, to the very specifics, is the most essential when developing with AI.

  • I learned that Lovable was better with generating visuals than Claude. Although Claude helped generate various specs that users would need to know.

  • Playing with different AI tools can help learn and build so much in such less time so keep at it.
